According to figures released by Mwani Qatar yesterday, containers, livestock and building materials also increased by 1%, 332% & 11% respectively at Hamad Port, Doha Port and Ruwais Port.

The ports handled 118,081 containers; 101,415 tonnes of general cargo; 6,506 vehicles; 25,600 heads of livestock and 35, 469 tonnes of building materials in the last month.

According to data released by QTerminlas, Hamad Port received 122 vessels. The port handled 115,297 containers and 6447 vehicles.

Hamad Port, Qatar’s gateway to the world, had handled over 1.5 million freight tonnes of cargo last year, according to recently released figures. During 2021, Hamad Port, which is managed and operated by QTerminals, handled 267,284 freight tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,303,514 freight tonnes of break bulk cargo through its General Cargo terminal, QTerminlas had said in an earlier tweet.

Hamad Port spent a busy year in 2021 as its handling of containers witnessed an increase of over 9% compared to 2020. In 2021, Hamad Port handled 1,543,591 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) containers; 267,284 freight tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,303,514 freight tonnes of general cargo; 72,223 vehicles; and 45,594 heads of livestock. The port also registered an increase in vessels’ arrival as 1,750 vessels called on Hamad Port in 2021 compared to 1,600 in 2020.

In February this year, QTerminals has started full-scale operations of the first and second phases of Hamad Port Container Terminal 2 (CT2), whose initial operation was launched in December.

The Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD) also awarded QTerminals Container Terminal 2 at Hamad Port with internationally recognized sustainability certifications under the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), in acknowledgement of the green building credentials demonstrated during the design and construction stages.

Recently in May this year, Hamad Port was ranked the third most efficient gateway in the world on the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence’s 370-member Container Port Performance Index for 2021.
